On Thursday January 17th, the South Jersey Writer’s Group held its first monthly meeting of 2013 and we opened with a bang!
Since we are open for membership for a limited time, we were able to meet with many new members of the group. In addition, the Courier Post (South Jersey newspaper) came out to photograph the group for a possible feature in the paper (more on that in a moment) and we had a special guest speaker, media guru Don Lafferty, speak to the group.
Personally, I learned a lot from the presentation. Although I am familiar with, and use, social media on a regular basis, I picked up several pointers in how to use it for branding and promoting myself better as a writer. If you ever get a chance to attend an event with Don, I highly recommend it. He has an engaging and lively presence and he really Knows His Stuff.
On Thursday January 24th, the Courier Post did a front-page feature story on the South Jersey Writers Group, which quoted me and fellow members Amy Hollinger and Christine Hardy. We were all quite excited since it was great promotion for the group and for our anthology, Tall Tales and Short Stories of South Jersey!
The anthology has been a great success so far and I’m honored to appear in it with such fine local talent. Check it out for yourself at Amazon or local South Jersey cafes like Jersey Java in Haddonfield and The Treehouse in Audubon.
